When a number is divided by another number, it gives a resulting number. The number, that is being divided is called dividend. The number, by which the dividend is being divided is called divisor. And the resulting number found by division is known as quotient.

In the division $12÷3=4$, the number 12 is called dividend, the number 3 is called divisor and the resulting number 4 is called quotient.

To find the quotient of the decimal numbers 27.88 and 8.2, first make the numbers decimal free by adding 0’s to the right side to make the equal digits after decimal and then remove decimal.

Observe that the number 27.88 has 2 digits after decimal while 8.2 has one digit only, so add one 0 to the right of second number to make it 8.20. Now remove the decimal from both numbers and divide them normally as shown below,
